Have we got a treat for you in this issue: Romeo Durscher, who I consider to be one of the luckiest drone pilots out there, flew his drone in the world’s largest cave! In “Underground Adventure,” Romeo describes his travels to Vietnam to explore the largest caves in the world. This trip was done in preparation for a live broadcast that appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America. I have done photography inside caves before, so I know just how hard it is to get a good photo in complete darkness. As you will see, the image quality that Romeo captured — even while underground! — is outstanding. With this kind of talent, it’s no surprise that Romeo recently joined DJI as their Director of Education and we look forward to seeing more of his high-quality work from his future adventures.
Of course that’s not the only information you’re going to get from this issue. We asked our Team RotorDrone experts to answer some questions from fledgling drone pilots so they can improve and hone their flying skills and machines. I can promise you that our “Master Your Multirotor” feature has a wealth of knowledge for pilots of all skill levels.
Drones are being used in so many different fields that sometimes it’s hard to keep up, and we were blown away by the photography that Lithuanian pilot Karolis Janulis created with a multirotor. You don’t want to miss his incredible shots in “Modern Artist.”
This month we also travel to the northwest to see how the agricultural industry is staying healthy: farmers are incorporating “Green Drones” into their daily work routine.
No issue would be complete without us getting our hands on a few multirotors to test out, so in this issue we fly the budget-friendly Syma X8C, the photo-ready Blade Chroma, the Yuneec Typhoon Q500 4K, the very stable Action Drone AD1, and the 250mm speed demon #7 racer from FPV Model Racing. Whether you’re a newbie, an FPV racer or a photo/video geek, one of these would be a great choice. And if you need to know about the latest happenings and products in the drone world, dive into our 13 pages of Aerial Intel, with news on delivery drones, 3D mapping castles, a whale-tail quadcopter and much more.
